Adding Photos to a Photo Album
When you are in a photo album, click on the link for adding photos. You should now see a few pull down menus to the right in the green colored bar above. Click on the down arrow to the right of the add item menu. You will be presented with a menu of choices. Choose photo by clicking on it with your left mouse button.
There are four fields in the add photo form:
- Name - We recommend you leave this field blank. The system will automatically generate a name.
- Title - a title you choose for photo. Give it a very brief descriptive title.
- Description - a place to fill in a fuller description of the photo. Be sure to identify the people in the picture and to give proper credit to the photographer (even if its you!)
- Image - this is how you actually upload a photo. Hit the browse button and find the picture on your computer's hard disk.
When you have finished editing the photo, hit the save button at the bottom of the form. It may take a minute or two for the file to upload, but when its done your photo will be in the photo album. You can always go back and edit the information, by returning to the photo album folder content and clicking on the link to your photo.
Some important points to keep in mind:
- Do not upload a photo as created directly from a digital camera or scanner. Make sure to use image processor software to use jpeg compression. After compression the file size should be no bigger than 200-300K. Check before uploading.
- Make sure your photograph is stored as a Jpeg file. It should end in an extension like ".jpg" or ".jpeg"
- Add as much descriptive information as possible when uploading your photo, including who is in the picture and who took the picture
If you find the web form a bit intimidating, you always have the option of emailing your photographs to the NGFP Online staff. We can process and upload for you. Just be sure to send along description information in the email text.
